![]() New Energy, New Ideas, and a Better Future “The Assembly majority needs a wake up call. They look for scapegoats because their record is unacceptable. It’s easier to blame others to distract the communities from the real issues. It takes guts to help our communities meet the challenges they face and not just pander to get votes,” Zamba says. “More of the same ineffective leadership won’t get jobs created. It won’t get quality health care legislation passed. It won’t achieve energy independence. It’s going to be two more years of the same old, same old. Is that what our district and state want? I don’t think so. Let’s undertake a mission to bring our district new vitality, ideas, and a better future.” Larry has more than a passing acquaintance with tough challenges. At 17 years old, he saved a 12-year-old boy and girl from a double drowning while life guarding at Camp Anokijig. One year later, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout - an honor that requires uncommon determination and leadership skills. "I was trained to be a leader since I was eleven years old, thanks to the Boy Scouts," said Larry. "I believe the best leaders are those who can get others to take charge in a situation and achieve what is thought to be unachievable." Just a three years later, Larry received an American Red Cross Certificate of Heroism. A boy was choking to death at a local middle school during lunch break. While adults stood by helplessly and watched the child lie gagging on the floor, Larry sprung into action. While some adults actually told him to do nothing wait for an ambulance to arrive, Larry ignored them and administered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, thus saving the boy's life. These experiences and others exemplify Larry’s ability to think quickly and act while others are afraid to make a move because they lack the knowledge or vision to do so. These experiences also demonstrate the kind of courage needed to represent and lead the 66th district. Larry, a proud resident of the district for over 40 years, graduated from Kenosha's Bradford High School, and earned his BA in broadcast communications from the UW-Parkside. He has started a series of successful entrepreneurial endeavors since then, including real estate investments, an entertainment firm, and a photography and art studio specializing in portrait and commercial work. As a businessman for over 27 years, Larry will bring his entrepreneurial spirit to energize the Wisconsin State Assembly. He is committed to ensuring the economic growth and prosperity of Southeastern Wisconsin. “It’s time to take action to create positive change that makes a difference in our communities,” Larry says. “If you want to do something about soaring energy costs, create and keep jobs in this district, expand access to affordable health care, and have someone who is experienced in and cares about small businesses and sole proprietors, which is 80% of state’s employers, please join our campaign.” Because he cares about our environment, Larry is a member of the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters. Because he cares about our health, Larry supports the Wisconsin Tobacco Free Coalition. Larry and his wife, Patti, a Guardian Ad Litum and self-employed attorney, have three wonderful children--two girls, Arielle and Paris, and a son Alex, who attends UW-Madison. The Zamba family has chosen to live Brighton because of its great schools and wonderful rural community atmosphere, an atmosphere Larry would like to preserve for future generations. |
